Iconography-

The use of well known symbol or icon, a means to analyse themes and various styles in films.

Genre-

Class or type of film/game/ etc. Recognisable from styles and iconography.

Archetype-

A character, place or thing, that is repeatedly presented in films with a particular style or characteristic, applies to specific genre or type.

Connotation-

The emotional and imaginative association surrounding a word. The intention of a term.

Convention-

The expected elements in a type of film, without question, thought or judgement.

Denotation-

The strict dictionary definition of a word.

Stereotype-

A fixed general image or set of characteristics that a lot of people believe represent a particular type of person or thing.

Purpose-

What it intends to do eg. entertain, scare, educate etc. or mix.

Form-

The actual form of a product, could be physical format or the medium eg. Finding Nemo is a kids animation.

Meaning-

What is meant by an action, word, text. The meaning could be something not directly expressed.
